THE GIBSON DIFFERENCE: USEABLE POWER! Gibson delivers its’ power in an optimal range of 2,000 to 4,000 (low to mid range) R.P.M respectively. Other competitive systems claim more power by hyping up
higher R.P.M ranges (5,000-6,000). High R.P.M horsepower and torque is very rarely used by street vehicles and only benefited by race vehicles on race tracks. This is the reason why Gibson has been the ideal choice for performance enthusiasts, practical "real world" driving, heavy duty work usage, and recreationist.
TURBULENCE
Turbulence exists at every point the exhaust gas “pulse” enters or exits an exhaust component. Gibson reduces turbulence to the absolute minimum in two ways:
First our Superflow muffler reduces turbulence with its patented Superior flow design which assists the exhaust gas in its flow out of the system.
Secondly, and most importantly in the reduction of turbulence, is our “slip fit” joining of all components. (Each pipe fits into the larger opening of the next downstream exhaust pipe.) This method contributes little turbulence when compared to “ball-and-socket” or “flange-and-gasket” joining which can create substantial power robbing backpressure and turbulence at each component joint. Even worse, is a misaligned gasket or socket can actually create more backpressure than your current stock system!
RESTRICTION
Restriction is created at two critical points: The muffler and at every bend of the exhaust pipe on your stock system. We dramatically reduce restriction in our muffler by using a baffled
and chambered dynamic structure which delivers optimal exhaust flow when compared to a packed or screened muffler. To further reduce restriction, all Gibson exhaust tubing is mandrel-bent which keeps the interior flow channel size exactly the same as a straight pipe.
FLOW
Not only is your stock exhaust pipe small, the factory’s cheaper bending method further restricts flow as it loses shape and compresses in every bend. Our mandrel bending keeps the opening the same size, even at the bends! Gibson is not only bigger for more flow, it’s size is constant, for even flow and more power!
BIGGER ISN'T BETTER
Too large of a pipe without the proper muffler will reduce low end torque and only increase top end power. Gibson does not build our exhaust systems to flow as much as possible, but as efficiently as possible. That’s why the ideal choice is a Gibson exhaust!
WHERE DOES THE
POWER COME FROM?
There is a 34% (or more) exhaust restriction in a typical stock muffler. Gibson SuperFlow mufflers have as low as a 5% restriction because we “custom power tune”
every muffler specifically to each vehicle. That is why Gibson Exhaust Systems consistently out perform the competition and, more importantly, when you want hill climbing, trailer pulling power and torque... you have it!
GIBSON SUPERFLOW MUFFLERS utilize a superior design of chambers, baffles, and louvers to provide the optimum amount of flow to increase and maximize the low-end torque powerband for people serious about towing and hauling (low to mid range torque increase). Not to mention, this is also the ideal muffler to compliment the performance characteristics of your vehicle for performance oriented daily driving (increased H.P. and increased fuel economy).
Gibson Superior Flow technology: Baffled & chambered for better volume efficiency with unrestricted flow. NO PACKING TO BLOW OUT! Won't grow louder over time.
- Improved low and mid range performance.
- Fully welded construction
Aluminized Steel: is a heavy duty gauged steel for a cost-effective solution for extended durability and longer life.
Stainless Steel: aircraft quality T-304, is used for optimum appearance and corrosion resistance in adverse conditions.
